Last night we were on hand for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy‘s Class of 2011 Formal, which was Hawaiian-themed, and it was a great event. About 400 or so young men and women, impeccably dressed, supremely well spoken, impressively mannered–it made us proud to be serving them! Each incoming class designs its own coat of arms, which adorn Leamy Hall. Each has a Latin inscription. The Class of 2011 chose Aut Viam Inveniemus Aut Facimus, which, as Cadet Charles Wilson told me, means Find a Way or Make One. Great thought! Hope to see you guys again next year.
